Maia Tskitishvili, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure says the rumors as if Mamuka Khazaradze was questioned by the Prosecutor’s Office intentionally, in order to hinder the Anaklia project are interpretations and conspiracies.
Minister Tskitishvili said in her interview with “Rustavi 2 “ program “Forbes’s Week” that the claim that Mamuka Khazaradze could not implement the Anaklia project and this project will never be implemented is the attempt to mislead the society.
“Banks, the funding source, have different view regarding this issue. On December 21 of the last year we received these 8 points, we met with banks on February 8 and on March 12-15 we received a new demand from the banks,” Maia Tskitishvili said.
According to the Vice Prime Minister, a wrong opinion is being formed as if the state is obliged to negotiate with the banks and if it fails to reach an agreement with them, it will be another confirmation that the state does not have the desire to implement the Anaklia project. Maia Tskitishvili claims that it is an attempt to transfer the full responsibility to the state.
“Such attempts are inappropriate, they do not reflect objective reality, as banks implement their work in parallel with questioning of Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze [by the Prosecutor’s Office and we plan the next meeting with the banks and the consortium at the beginning of April. This process has not been stopped, it is an ordinary process that has been taking place throughout this period with the active involvement of all relevant state agencies and consortium, and therefore, it is wrong to say that communication has been suspended, “said Minister Tskitishvili.
